History of Oratoire Saint-Joseph
Founded in 1904 by Brother André (later Saint André Bessette), the Oratoire Saint-Joseph du Mont-Royal is one of the world’s most visited pilgrimage sites. The current basilica, completed in 1967, was designed by architects Dom Paul Bellot and Lucien Parent. Brother André, canonized by Pope Benedict XVI in 2010, was known for his devotion to Saint Joseph and his miraculous healings. The shrine attracts millions of visitors annually from around the world.
